Our AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism course represents the pinnacle of high school electromagnetic theory education. This advanced course provides a rigorous, calculus-based treatment of electric and magnetic phenomena, preparing students for the most challenging concepts in physics and engineering.
AP Physics C: E&M is equivalent to a semester-long, calculus-based college electromagnetism course. Students will master Maxwell's equations, electromagnetic induction, and advanced circuit analysis using sophisticated mathematical tools including vector calculus, differential equations, and complex mathematical modeling.
This is the most mathematically intensive AP Physics course! You'll work with Gauss's law, Ampรจre's law, Faraday's law, and advanced electromagnetic theory using multivariable calculus, line integrals, and surface integrals.
Essential: AP Calculus BC or equivalent (multivariable calculus highly recommended)
Vector Calculus: Comfort with gradients, divergence, curl, line integrals, and surface integrals
Differential Equations: Experience with partial differential equations beneficial
Mathematics: AP Calculus BC completion or concurrent enrollment
Physics: AP Physics C: Mechanics (strongly recommended) or equivalent calculus-based mechanics
Mathematical Maturity: Comfort with advanced mathematical reasoning and proof techniques
Exam Date: May 2026 | Duration: 90 minutes | Format: Multiple Choice (45 min) + Free Response (45 min)

Enquire about Group"AP Physics C: E&M was the most challenging course I've ever taken, but also the most rewarding. The mathematical rigor was intense - working with Maxwell's equations and vector calculus felt like graduate-level work. The comprehensive approach to electromagnetic theory gave me such a deep understanding that my college electromagnetic theory course felt like a review. The tutoring made the difference between surviving and thriving in this incredibly demanding subject. I earned a 5 and felt completely prepared for electrical engineering!"
AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism is typically taken alongside or after AP Physics C: Mechanics. This tutoring programme is designed for students with calculus skills who are ready to tackle electric fields, circuits, magnetism, and electromagnetic induction at a university-level depth. Ideal for students targeting top scores and preparing for engineering, physics, or applied sciences degrees.
Pair this with our AP Physics C: Mechanics tutoring for complete calculus-based physics preparation. Also see our AP Calculus BC tutoring.
AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism represents the most advanced and mathematically sophisticated physics course available at the high school level. This course will prepare you not only for the challenging AP exam but also provide you with the theoretical foundation essential for advanced studies in physics, electrical engineering, and related fields.
Students who successfully complete this course often find that they have already mastered much of the material covered in university-level electromagnetic theory courses. The combination of deep mathematical rigor and conceptual understanding makes this course invaluable preparation for careers in physics, engineering, and technology.
AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism requires a strong foundation in calculus, including derivatives, integrals, and ideally some exposure to multivariable concepts such as line integrals and surface integrals. Students should have completed or be concurrently enrolled in AP Calculus BC. Prior completion of AP Physics C: Mechanics is also strongly recommended.
Lessons take place via video call with an interactive digital whiteboard, enabling complex electromagnetic derivations and vector calculus problems to be worked through in real time. All sessions are recorded for later review, and WhatsApp support is available between sessions for follow-up questions.
While it is technically possible, it is strongly recommended to complete AP Physics C: Mechanics first. The mathematical reasoning and problem-solving approach developed in Mechanics provides essential preparation for the more abstract electromagnetic theory in E&M. Students who skip Mechanics often find E&M significantly more challenging.
